New Delhi: The Delhi Police have apprehended the third suspect involved in the shooting incident inside a ward at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital. The accused conducted a recce for four consecutive days at the hospital along with his three associates.

The accused has been identified as Moin (19), a resident of Laxmi Garden, Loni Ghaziabad, police said on Wednesday.

The incident happened on Sunday, where a person, Riyazuddin was gunned down by a person inside the ward. The victim was admitted to the hospital on June 23 and was undergoing treatment for an abdominal infection.

According to a PTI report, DCP Shahdara, Surendra Chaudhary, said that Moin is among the main conspirators of the incident.

"He is among the main conspirators and was involved in the recce before the firing incident. He has conducted recce for four consecutive days at the hospital along with his associates Ayan, Aman, and Shavez. He is one who is involved in hiding the vehicle, i.e., the motorcycle used in the commission of the offense. He is part of the backup plan in case of the failure of the original plan," the DCP said.

Prior to this, two other accused were also held by the police.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, involved the fatal shooting of Riyazuddin inside Ward 24 of GTB Hospital. The case was registered by Delhi Police on July 14 based on a statement from Tarranum Malik, the victim's sister, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act at GTB Enclave Police Station.

Malik, in her statement, said that her brother Riyazuddin was shot by an unknown person in Ward 24 of Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment.

Police obtained video footage from cameras near the ward and the ground-floor cameras, which showed four people entering the hospital's emergency gate.

"Another patient in the same ward, who was shot on June 12, indicated that he had a rivalry with the Hasim Baba gang. He believed the attackers intended to kill him but mistakenly killed the patient in the bed opposite," police said.

Officials said that based on the video footage, the suspects were identified. The police also obtained their social media IDs and mobile numbers and analyzed call detail records (CDRs), news agency PTI reported.

During a raid in Laxmi Garden, Loni, Uttar Pradesh, one suspect, Faiz (20), a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad, was apprehended and interrogated.

During sustained interrogation, Faiz revealed that Faheem alias Badshah Khan was the mastermind behind the incident.

Another suspect, Farhaan, was apprehended in Chauhan Banger.

The suspects disclosed that Faheem would gather the group at his flat in Babar Pur, Delhi.

On the day of the incident, Faheem instructed them to kill another patient in Ward 24 of GTB Hospital, not the deceased. Faheem also instructed them on how to flee the hospital after the shooting. Faiz provided the bike for the operation. After the shooting, Moin Khan and Faiz returned to their home in Loni, the police said, adds news agency PTI.

Both Moin and Faiz were apprehended during a raid, and investigations are ongoing, as per police officials.
