Gurgaon Civil Hospital to expand emergency services with new Trauma Care facility
Gurgaon's Civil Hospital will add specialised trauma infrastructure, including an oxygen manifold, HEPA filtration and electrical safety systems, to strengthen emergency care.
Gurgaon: To strengthen emergency and surgical care for patients with serious injuries, the Civil Hospital in Sector 10 is set to receive a dedicated trauma care facility equipped with specialised infrastructure for emergency treatment and surgeries.
A key feature of the proposed facility will be a dedicated medical gas system, including an oxygen manifold designed to ensure uninterrupted oxygen availability. The planned manifold will have two banks, with each bank capable of accommodating 16 cylinders.
An automatic changeover mechanism will shift the oxygen supply to the reserve bank once the primary bank is exhausted, preventing interruption during the transition. The system will also generate visual and audible alerts when a cylinder bank is depleted.
The facility is being planned as part of the infrastructure at the government-run Civil Hospital in Sector 10, which caters to a significant share of the city's public healthcare needs.
According to The Daily, the development assumes importance as Gurgaon does not have a separate civil hospital, leaving the Sector 10 facility to serve a large section of residents dependent on government healthcare services.

The proposed trauma infrastructure is expected to support patients requiring emergency care following road crashes and other serious injuries, while potentially reducing the need for referrals to other centres.
“The facility will have ductable air conditioning with HEPA filtration, air curtains and pneumatic doors. The specifications also provide for infrastructure associated with an operation theatre, including sealed and insulated internal ducting and a medical- grade electrical isolation system to detect faults in individual circuits, said a doctor, reports the Times of India.
The electrical safety system will include an isolation panel capable of detecting leakage and faults in individual circuits, with the system connected to the theatre control panel.
The development comes against the backdrop of Gurgaon’s growing population and the need for stronger public healthcare infrastructure. While the planned facility will add specialised trauma infrastructure to the Sector 10 hospital, its effectiveness will depend on the clinical services available to support the proposed infrastructure.
