Patna: The Health Department recently conducted a major crackdown against unlicensed medical centres, putting patients at risk, sealing two clinics in Bhikhanpur and Mundichak. Both clinics were found operating without qualified doctors and lacking basic treatment standards.

The inspection team, led by Sadar Hospital in-charge Dr. Raju and hospital manager Ashutosh Kumar, first visited a centre on Bhikhanpur Neethan Vidyalaya Road. While banners and posters were removed before the raid, the team found operation tables and instruments in a rusted state, and a large quantity of expired Tetvac injections, which could be fatal if administered. A patient register revealed that the centre had been treating patients until Tuesday.

The team then moved to another clinic in Mundichak, which was also running without a doctor. Two patients were found waiting in the OPD, with only a single stand and an IV stand available for treatment.

Speaking to Bhaskar Daily, the Health Department has clarified that the campaign against such centers operating without registration and qualified doctors will continue. If caught, FIRs will be registered against the operators.

Dr. Raju Kumar, in charge of Sadar Hospital, stated that the patient entry register and suspicious documents have been seized. The clinic has been sealed with immediate effect for violating regulations and operating illegally. Legal action has been initiated against the operators. He stated that the operation of illegal clinics will not be tolerated in the district under any circumstances. This is a matter concerning people's lives. This investigation will continue, reports Live Hindustan.

Authorities also noted that one of the clinics displayed prescriptions under a name reportedly used by multiple clinics across different areas. The authenticity of the doctor behind this name is still under investigation. Improper treatment at clinics using the same name in other localities has previously resulted in the deaths of pregnant women, authorities said.
