Health Minister finds doctors absent without notice at Gandhi Hospital
Telangana Health Minister Inspects Gandhi Hospital
Hyderabad: During a surprise visit to Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday, Health Minister C Damodar Raja Narasimha raised serious concerns over staff attendance and service inefficiencies. Several doctors, including professors and associate professors, were found absent during the visit.
The unapproved absenteeism prompted the minister to direct senior officials to investigate and hold those responsible accountable for neglecting their duties. Rajanarsimha ordered the hospital superintendent and the Director of Medical Education (DME) to issue show-cause notices to the absent medical professionals, demanding an explanation for their unauthorized absence.

As per the recent media reports by the Deccan Chronicle, Rajanarsimha emphasized the importance of accountability among medical professionals. “Doctors, professors, and RMOs will not be ignored if they are absent during their duty. We will take appropriate action against them,” he stated.
Rajanarsimha also expressed his concerns about the overall state of medical services at Gandhi Hospital. He announced that a comprehensive review of the hospital’s medical services would be carried out soon, with the goal of improving the quality of care provided to patients.
Additionally, the minister also took the opportunity to evaluate the hospital's facilities. His inspection included a comprehensive assessment of various departments, such as the inpatient and outpatient wards, the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) ward, and the In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) unit.
According to TOI, the minister raised concerns about the delays in IVF service provision and mandated the DME to commence disciplinary proceedings against the doctors accountable for the inefficiencies observed.
