Hyderabad: A corporate hospital in Banjara Hills was fined Rs 50000 by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's Directorate of Enforcement Vigilance & Disaster Management (EV&DM) for illegally collecting parking fees by flouting rules, reports the Telangana Today. 

As per a government order issued by the state government dated February 20, 2018, it is illegal for hospitals to collect parking fees. The order was issued to deal with parking-related issues and to regulate the collection of the parking fees.

A citizen via Twitter brought forth the issue to the notice of EVDM's central enforcement cell after which the penalty was imposed on the hospital. The citizen had raised a complaint along with posting a picture of the parking ticket on Twitter.

According to the challan which was generated, the hospital was leasing/ misusing the parking/common areas, following which it was fined, reports the Telangana Today.

The Medical Dialogues team had reported earlier that the Director of Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management (EV & DM) has imposed a fine of Rs 50000 on the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) Hyderabad for flouting rules and collecting parking fees from the attendants and visitors of the patients. According to an order (GO 63) issued by the state government on 'Police on Parking' dated February 20, 2018, it is illegal for hospitals to collect parking fees. The order was issued to deal with various issues related to parking and regulated the collection of parking fees.

It has been more than three years since the order was passed by the government which directed the hospitals not to collect parking charges from the attendants of the patients.
