Iswarya Hospital launches advanced cancer centre in Chennai

Chennai: In a move aimed at strengthening advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment services, Iswarya Hospital has inaugurated the Iswarya Cancer Centre at its OMR Taramani facility in Chennai. The newly launched centre introduces cutting-edge oncology services, including high-precision radiotherapy, immunotherapy, complex cancer surgeries, and an AI-powered PET-CT scan designed to improve early detection and evaluation of cancer.

According to the news reports, the facility was inaugurated by chief guest Sathyaraj, noted actor and public figure, in the presence of Dr. S. Rajasundaram, Chief Executive Officer of Iswarya Hospital, and Dr. Arun Muthuvel, Managing Director of the hospital, along with members of the multidisciplinary oncology team.

Additionally, the facility is strengthened by advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies such as AI-powered PET-CT imaging and high-precision radiotherapy systems, designed to improve accuracy in cancer detection, staging, and treatment delivery. The centre also offers immunotherapy, an advanced treatment approach that enhances the body’s immune system to recognise and fight cancer cells more effectively. 

Speaking at the launch, Dr. S. Rajasundaram, CEO, Iswarya Hospital, said, “Cancer continues to be one of the most significant health challenges in India today. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Cancer Registry Programme, new cancer cases are projected to rise to around 15.7 lakh cases by 2025, with breast, lung, and oral cancers remaining among the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the country. Breast cancer alone is expected to account for more than two lakh new cases annually, making it the leading cancer among Indian women,” reports Chennai Online.

He added that late diagnosis remains one of the biggest challenges, significantly affecting survival outcomes. The introduction of AI-powered PET-CT technology and precision radiotherapy at the centre will enable earlier detection, more accurate assessment of disease spread, and improved treatment planning.
