Jammu: SMVD Narayana hospital bags National Health Award for Outstanding work during COVID-19

Katra: A National Award for 'Outstanding work in providing affordable and quality care during COVID & beyond' was presented to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu by Double Helical in recognition of the hospital's hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic period.

Double Helical is the country's leading health magazine that organized the event and awarded hospitals for their excellent work in the past years. The event took place at India Habitat Center in New Delhi.

In spite of numerous hospital applications from different states, only the SMVD Narayana Super Specialty Hospital was selected for the award. Out of all the state hospitals in the northern states of J&K, this is the only hospital to receive the award. It is also the youngest hospital to receive such an award after it was inaugurated in 2016.

The award show was sponsored by the Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) and a Consortium of Accredited Hospital Organizations (CAHO). Director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Dr SK Sarin came to the ceremony as the chief guest and gave the award to Dr JP Singh, clinical director, SMVD hospital.

President of CAHO Dr Vijay Aggarwal, former President of DMC Dr A K Aggarwal, APHI Dr Giridhar Gyani and Director of MAMC & Advisor of ICMR Dr Suneela Garg were present at the occasion.

Dr JP Singh told Daily Excelsior that it was an honour to receive the award on behalf of the hospital after all the hard work that the hospital and its COVID team including consultants, nurses, paramedical staff, GDA and housekeeping staff and maintenance department, CSSD and catering services provided in the pandemic period. He dedicated the award to the COVID team of the hospital.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital is a NABH accredited Hospital in Jammu, Kashmir and it was inaugurated on19th April 2016 by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi at Kakryal, near Katra in Jammu.
