LNJP Bone Hospital Patna to launch advanced sports injury centre in October

Patna: LNJP Bone Hospital in Patna is set to launch an advanced Sports Injury Centre in October to provide specialised treatment and rehabilitation for patients with sports-related injuries. 

The proposed centre is being established under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LNJP Bone Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Following the agreement, a team of specialists from Safdarjung Hospital inspected the facility and submitted its report to the Bihar Health Department, paving the way for the planned centre.

According to LNJP Hospital Director Dr Rakesh Chaudhary, the centre will provide treatment for sports-related injuries along with rehabilitation and recovery services. The centre is planned to offer care for injuries involving the ligaments, muscles and joints, which can require specialised management and structured rehabilitation.

Hospital authorities said the centre will also undertake arthroscopic procedures for injuries affecting the shoulder, knee and ankle. The availability of such procedures will form part of the specialised treatment services planned at the facility, reports Patna Press.

Multidisciplinary Care For Sports Injuries

The proposed centre will have a multidisciplinary team to assist patients through different stages of treatment and rehabilitation. The planned team will include sports physiotherapists, psychologists, trainers and dietitians.

The involvement of professionals from different areas is intended to support various aspects of recovery. While physiotherapists and trainers will assist with physical rehabilitation, psychologists and dietitians will provide support related to mental wellbeing and dietary planning during the recovery process.

According to the hospital, the centre is aimed at providing specialised sports injury care within Bihar and reducing the need for patients to travel outside the state to access such treatment. The facility will bring treatment and rehabilitation services for sports-related injuries together at the hospital.

Parking Facility Also Under Development

Separately, infrastructure work is also underway at the hospital’s new building, where a parking facility is being developed with a planned capacity of around 200 vehicles.

The parking arrangement will include an open parking area for 100 vehicles. Another 100 vehicles will be accommodated through a hydraulic double-decker parking system.
