Malda Medical College Manager Arrested on Corruption Charges
Malda: The facility manager of Malda Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) was recently detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on charges of corruption. The arrest took place on Tuesday morning when a CBI team, led by an officer of Sub-Inspector (SI) rank and accompanied by three officials, apprehended the accused at the MMCH campus.
The accused was subsequently taken to the English Bazar Police Station for the completion of legal formalities.
Following the arrest, the CBI, with the assistance of local police, obtained a transit remand from the Malda court to transfer the accused to Kolkata, where he is expected to undergo further investigation.

Although he was released on bail, the legal proceedings against him were ongoing. Despite repeated summons from the court, he had failed to appear for hearings, leading to his eventual arrest by the CBI.
The arrest of the accused has raised concerns about the financial practices within government-run medical institutions and has sparked significant discussions at MMCH.
According to Millennium Post, reacting to the incident, Malda Medical College Medical Superintendent-cum-Vice-Principal (MSVP), Prasenjit Kumar Bar, stated, “The CBI has arrested our facility manager in connection with an old case on the power of a warrant. He joined our college four months ago after being transferred from Alipurduar.”
