Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday will inaugurate a 2000-bed hospital constructed at a cost of more than Rs 482 crore and lay foundation stones of health facilities worth more than Rs 245 crore at the government-run Gandhi Medical College here.

The chief minister will lay the foundation stones of Rs 17.52 crore OPD building, Rs 27.4 crore nursing college and hostel building and Out Patient Department's (OPD) registration counter centre among other things, said Medical Education Minister Vishvas Sarang after inspecting the site on Saturday.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also kick off a project under which MBBS course seats at GMC have been raised to 250 from 150, Sarang said, adding that PG seats too have been increased at the college.

As per a media report in TOI, according to the information received from the GMC, the members of Madhya Pradesh Medical Federation have been specially invited for the programme. Speculations are being made that Chouhan could give a nod on doctors demands for which the medical federation have gone on strike and agitation on the past. The programme has been organized at GMC premises from 4 pm today.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan distributed appointment letters to newly appointed doctors and specialists of the Public Health and Family Welfare Department. Those who received appointment letters included 83 pediatricians, 76 surgeons and 128 dental surgeons. Along with this, CM Chouhan also gave appointment letters to two Assistant Microbiologists, six Assistant Public Analysts and 24 Assistant Drug Analysts under the Food and Drug Administration.
