Mumbai: With more deaths being reported in government hospital, the district unit of NCP (Sharad Pawar group) has urged the dean of Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) to improve health facilities at GMCH.

A delegation of NCP, led by rural president Pandurang Tangade-Patil, on Friday met the dean of GMCH and handed over a memorandum highlighting major problems faced by poor patients in hospital which resulted in more deaths recently.

Considering the very high death rate in hospital, serious attention should be paid to saving the lives of poor patients, the memorandum stated.

Due to unsanitary conditions in the hospital, instead of getting better, admitted patients are becoming more and more seriously ill.

"If no action is taken on this, we will protest," it added.
