Hyderabad: An Additional Medical Superintendent at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has been booked by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a disproportionate assets case after searches allegedly uncovered assets worth around Rs 6.13 crore.
The ACB conducted simultaneous searches at eight locations in Hyderabad, including the official’s residence in Erragadda and premises linked to relatives, friends and associates. According to the agency, the assets were accumulated through corrupt practices and were disproportionate to the official’s known sources of income.
According to an NDTV report, during the searches, the agency recovered property documents of eight residential flats. These included a four-bedroom apartment in a high-rise gated community, two three-bedroom flats in Kukatpally and five two-bedroom flats in Manikonda, Petbasheerabad and Kukatpally.
The ACB also identified four open plots in Yadadri, Nandigama and Shamirpet, along with an 800-square-yard plot in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The agency further reported financial holdings comprising Rs 41 lakh in bank accounts, Rs 12 lakh in post office deposits, Rs 35 lakh invested through private financial institutions and Ra 29.55 lakh in mutual funds.
The searches also led to the recovery of around 517.8 grams of gold ornaments, three cars, four two-wheelers and electronic devices valued at about Rs 5 lakh.
The ACB also found an investment of Rs 1.30 crore in a flat that is currently involved in proceedings before the Debt Recovery Tribunal, besides records indicating ₹1.33 crore had been given as hand loans to various individuals. The agency said verification of other assets was still underway, reports NDTV.
The case has been registered under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Further investigation will focus on verifying the assets, establishing their sources and examining whether additional properties or financial holdings are linked to the official.
