Odisha gets 50-bedded Maternal and Child care centre at cost of Rs 14.04 crore

Sonepur: The town has got a much needed new 50-bed maternal and child care centre at a cost of Rs 14.04 crore launched by the State's Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari.
The inauguration of the centre took place on Wednesday.
The town had no such particular centre catering to the mother and children of the population and the demand for one was high. The Health and Family Welfare department has finally taken the initiative to build the centre in Sonepur.
Balangir MP Sangita Kumari Singhdeo, Zilla Parishad president Supara Thela, Sonepur SP Amresh Panda, chief district medical and public health officer Dr Biswaranjan Pati were present.

While inaugurating the centre, Pujari told TNIE "The centre would not only cater to the healthcare needs of mothers and children of Sonepur but also benefit the targeted population of the Boudh district."
The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik tweeted saying "Further expanding quality and affordable healthcare, #Odisha Govt has set up a 50-bed maternal & child care centre at Sonepur, constructed at a cost of ₹14.04 Cr. It will strengthen healthcare delivery in the region. #SusthaOdisha"
Sonepur Collector Aboli Sunil Naravane said, "The centre would strengthen the healthcare delivery system of the district."
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the redevelopment project of SCB Medical College and Hospital has been set to be completed by December 2023 as per the direction given by the State government.
The government has invested an amount of Rs 5000 crores in the project which is aimed to be redeveloped as an AIIMS-plus institution.
The construction of the newly redeveloped 5000-bedded institute will take place in two phases in which the L&T will handle the clinical part of the institution and NCC Limited will handle the residential portion of the institute.
