Kurnool: A 24-year-old woman passed away at Sri Chakra Hospital in Kurnool on Wednesday, leading to serious allegations of medical negligence and sparking a protest at the hospital premises.

The deceased woman, a resident of Pamidi mandal in Anantapur district, had been admitted to the hospital earlier this week after developing a high fever. According to her family, she was brought to the private facility on Tuesday after developing a severe fever.

Relatives of the deceased alleged that basic diagnostic tests were not conducted, and despite her critical condition, the staff insisted on completing outpatient formalities before starting treatment.

Tensions escalated quickly on Thursday morning after news of her death spread. Distressed and angry relatives gathered outside the hospital, accusing the doctors and staff of negligence. The protest soon turned violent, with agitated family members smashing glass doors and furniture and engaging in heated arguments with hospital personnel.

Local police intervened quickly to bring the situation under control. Additional forces were deployed, and several protesters were taken to the police station to prevent further clashes.

Speaking to the Hans India, Kurnool DSP Babu Prasad confirmed that a case has been registered at the IV Town police station based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s husband. An investigation has been launched, and the post-mortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.

As of now, Sri Chakra Hospital has not issued any official statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, the deceased woman’s family is demanding strict action against the doctors and staff involved, questioning how a young woman could succumb to a common fever in a professional medical facility.
