Patient dies at Kanpur Hospital, family alleges medical negligence, Assault by doctors

Kanpur: Tension prevailed at the LPS Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Kanpur after a patient admitted for chest pain died during treatment. The patient's kin alleges that the death was due to the doctor's negligence.

Following the complaint, the Director of Cardiology, Dr Rakesh Verma has formed a five-member team to investigate the allegations. After two days, the team will submit the report and further action will be taken.

The deceased, identified as Chandrapal Nishad from Fatehpur district, had complained of chest pain three days ago, following which he was admitted to the LPS Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Kanpur. Chandrapal died on Friday evening.

According to the deceased's family, the ordeal began when they sought answers regarding the circumstances leading to his death. Allegedly, their inquiries were met with hostility and abuse from junior doctors. Aditya, the deceased's son, recounted that despite his father's deteriorating health, they encountered indifference from medical staff, culminating in Chandrapal's passing.

Aditya further said that when he and his sisters, Sandhya, Rani and Anju, asked the doctors about the cause of their father's death, the junior doctors abused them, reports IANS.

He also alleged that when they tried making videos of the doctors, their phones were snatched away, and they were assaulted by the doctors.

This incident has sparked outrage among residents of Kanpur, with many expressing dismay over the alleged mistreatment of the deceased's family. Calls for accountability and justice have echoed across social media platforms, drawing attention to the need for a thorough investigation and stringent action against any wrongdoing.

As the investigation unfolds, the spotlight remains on the LPS Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, with expectations for transparency and accountability in addressing this distressing episode.
