Patna Medical College staffer accused of molesting patient during ECG procedure

Patna: Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) has come under scrutiny after a 20-year-old woman alleged that a staff member molested her during an electrocardiogram (ECG) procedure, while her family claims that hospital security personnel mistreated them when they intervened.  

According to the news reports, the incident occurred on Friday night when the woman, a resident of Salimpur Ahara, visited the emergency ward of PMCH with breathing difficulties. Doctors advised her to undergo an electrocardiogram (ECG), during which she alleges that a staff member inappropriately touched her under the pretence of performing the examination. Disturbed by the repeated unwanted actions, she raised an alarm.

The woman’s family rushed to the scene, creating a commotion. They later claimed that hospital guards responded by pushing and mistreating them. The accused staff member is said to have fled the hospital immediately after the incident.  

The victim has lodged a formal complaint at Pirbahor police station, and authorities have registered a case. A senior officer confirmed that police are investigating the matter, including questioning hospital staff and reviewing CCTV footage, reports Patna Press.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in a shocking incident, a doctor was arrested by the Thatipur police for allegedly molesting a 30-year-old woman under the pretence of a routine medical examination at his clinic in Gwalior’s Nitin Nagar area. According to the complaint filed at Thatipur police station, the incident took place on Tuesday evening when the woman, a resident of Hurawali, visited the clinic of the doctor for treatment related to fever and headaches. She was accompanied by her brother-in-law at the time of the visit.
