Sleep is the foundation of physical and mental well-being, yet millions suffer silently from poor sleep quality, chronic insomnia, and sleep apnea, conditions that dramatically reduce quality of life and increase health risks. A recent study published in the Indian Journal of Sleep Medicine, which Dr. Lancelot Pinto was a part of, surveyed 758 individuals across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The study found that only 18.3% of respondents reported sleeping more than seven hours per night, while over half experienced poor sleep quality. Additionally, 30% of participants reported excessive daytime sleepiness, underscoring the growing need for specialised sleep care.

Mr. Gautam Khanna, CEO, P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC, said, “Sleep quality is no longer a lifestyle choice—it is a public health necessity. At P. D. Hinduja Hospital, we have always championed holistic and preventive care, and the launch of our dedicated Sleep Clinic reflects that commitment. By integrating medical expertise with psychological support, we are not only treating sleep disorders but also helping individuals reclaim their quality of life. This clinic is an important step forward in our mission to deliver 360-degree care that addresses the often-ignored, yet deeply impactful, aspects of modern health.”

The Sleep Clinic at P. D. Hinduja Hospital aims to address the underlying causes of sleep issues rather than merely their symptoms. The clinic will take a comprehensive approach by combining medical evaluation with psychological support to improve sleep and overall well-being. Among other issues, the clinic will address persistent sleeplessness, daily weariness, loud snoring, and trouble using a CPAP machine.

Dr. Lancelot Pinto, Consultant Pulmonologist, Epidemiologist, and Sleep Expert, P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC, said, “Sleep disorders are often ignored and undiagnosed but have a profound impact on an individual’s physical and emotional health. Coupled with today’s fast-paced lifestyle, sleep disorders have increasingly become an epidemic. P. D. Hinduja Hospital’s Sleep Clinic will help individuals understand the underlying causes of their sleep difficulties and receive comprehensive care."

With the launch of a dedicated Sleep Clinic, P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre reinforces its commitment to advancing holistic health and preventive care. By addressing sleep as a vital component of overall well-being, the hospital aims to help individuals not only treat sleep disorders but also rediscover the benefits of sound sleep for a healthier mind, body, and life.
