Hyderabad: A medical negligence accusation has been made against the l in Banjara Hills for the alleged death of newborn twins in the hospital.

The deceased twin's parents have been identified as the father Raghunath Reddy and mother Suvarna Reddy.

The incident took place when Suvarna was five months pregnant and was admitted to the hospital in April last week. She gave birth to the premature twins, a boy and a girl on May 9. The twins were 580 grams and 610 grams respectively.

As per the parents' allegation, the hospital took charge of the treatment of the two premature babies but instead neglected them. Unfortunately, the baby boy died three days after the delivery and the girl died on Wednesday.

The hospital provided the couple with a total bill of 60 lakh even though both the twin died. However, the couple is now blaming the hospital responsible for the death of their babies.

Denying the allegation, Dr K. Prashanth, Group Medical Director at Rainbow Children's Hospital told TNIE, "These babies were very sick, had very immature lungs and from the very beginning needed high-level ventilatory support. Every decision regarding the treatment of the babies was made in agreement and in partnership with the parents following several detailed discussions on a regular basis."

The director also said that the parents were given full support on the financial issue and were never been subject to any pressure from the hospital. An amount of Rs 6,29,500 was paid by the couple. An amount of Rs 12,50,000 was also extended by the Andhra Pradesh CMRF by way of a Letter of Credit (LOC), and the remainder was provided by the hospital.
