Quack arrested for running illegal clinic in Uppal, medicines seized

Hyderabad: A 40-year-old lab technician-turned-quack was arrested by the Special Operations Team of Malkajgiri on Tuesday for running an unauthorized clinic and diagnostic centre in Uppal under the name "Manikanta Poly Clinic & Diagnostic Centre."

The special operations team conducted a raid on the clinic, uncovering several violations of health and medical regulations.

According to Nandyala Narasimha Reddy, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the Special Operations Team (SOT) at Rachakonda Commissionerate, the raid exposed a range of illegal activities at the facility. During the operation, authorities confiscated a substantial quantity of medicines and prescription books.

The 40-year-old accused, who ran the clinic without the necessary licenses or medical qualifications, was found to be conducting diagnostic tests and medical consultations in an environment that did not meet required health standards. The seized medicines included various pharmaceuticals that were neither properly documented nor approved for use by the clinic. Additionally, the prescription books recovered from the premises indicated unauthorized medical practices and the issuance of prescriptions without appropriate medical oversight.

As per the reports by the Times of India, Bikshapathi, a resident of Boduppal, had been operating the clinic for several years, treating patients for a variety of ailments. Despite his extended tenure in the medical field, he lacked the necessary qualifications and legal documentation required to run such a facility. This has raised serious concerns about the quality and safety of the medical services provided.

Authorities are calling on the public to verify the credentials of medical professionals and facilities to prevent similar incidents and ensure access to safe and legitimate medical care. The case remains under investigation, and further updates are anticipated as authorities continue to assess the full scope of the clinic's operations and its impact on the community.
