Rs 7.19 crore boost under NTPC CSR upgrades two Bilaspur Hospitals
Bilaspur- In a significant development, healthcare facilities worth Rs 7.19 crore were inaugurated in Bilaspur on Sunday under the CSR initiative of NTPC Sipat. The upgrades target two institutions-the Kumar Saheb Late Shri Dilip Singh Judev Government Super Speciality Hospital and the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS).
These include the establishment of a state-of-the-art blood centre, along with new microbiology and hormone laboratories, and an AI-enabled microscopy system at the super-speciality hospital. Notably, the blood centre is the first of its kind in Chhattisgarh and is expected to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
Moreover, an additional allocation of ₹2.92 crore was made for equipment at CIMS, under which eight departments received 26 machines. These include Color Doppler systems, automatic chemiluminescence analysers, dental chairs, OT tables, and mortuary freezers.
In response, officials stated that these upgrades would strengthen diagnostic services and enable advanced medical procedures to be performed locally, thereby reducing the need for patients to travel elsewhere for treatment, according to TOI.
Medical Dialogues had recently reported that to assess the emergency preparedness and campus accessibility of the state-run Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS), Bilaspur, the Chhattisgarh High Court has recently ordered an immediate inspection of the institute. The order was issued on April 8 by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agarwal. The Court has asked appointed Court Commissioners to assess the current condition of the hospital and submit their report by the next hearing scheduled for May 5.
The directive follows a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding the operational status of the hospital. The court expressed concern over the hospital's location in a congested area, noting that the narrow access roads and heavy traffic pose serious risks.
