Bengaluru: In a significant move towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure, Japan's Toyota Tsusho and Secom Medical System have unveiled plans to establish a second state-of-the-art healthcare facility under the banner of Sakra World Hospital in India. The ambitious project, set to receive an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, aims to bolster medical services and cater to the evolving healthcare needs of the region.

The existing collaboration between Toyota Tsusho and Secom Medical System has already established Sakra World Hospital in Bengaluru, which has garnered acclaim for its exceptional healthcare standards. Building upon this success, the partners intend to expand their footprint with a new 500-bed unit situated in Banaswadi, Bengaluru North, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

The forthcoming facility is poised to occupy a sprawling built-up area spanning 6 lakh sq ft, equipped with cutting-edge medical amenities and services. Sakra World Hospital envisions this expansion as a pivotal step towards accommodating the escalating demand for specialized healthcare solutions.

Sakra World Hospital is a collaboration between Japan's healthcare major Secom Medical System and trading conglomerate Toyota Tsusho.

"The new facility is the extension of our firm commitment towards fulfilling the healthcare needs of the local and international communities," said Tatsuro Fuse, Executive Director, SECOM Co Ltd, and Chairman, SECOM Medical System Co Ltd, Japan. Sakra World Hospital Group Chief Operating Officer Lovekesh Phasu said the company is in talks to finalise plans to set up a third facility that is likely to have 300 beds. The deal has not been signed yet for the third unit but the investment pipeline could range between Rs 700 crore and Rs 800 crore, he added, reports PTI.

The proposed expansion aligns with Sakra's ambitious vision to add 1,000 beds in subsequent phases of growth, underscoring its steadfast commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.

As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, Sakra World Hospital's investment signifies a progressive stride towards augmenting medical services and fostering holistic wellness within the Bengaluru community and beyond.
