Siwan: A masked man was allegedly caught on video removing a chain from a deceased patient's body at Siwan Model Sadar Hospital in Bihar, raising concerns over security at the hospital.

The footage, reportedly recorded late Tuesday night, shows the man approaching a body lying near the registration counter and allegedly taking the chain before walking towards the emergency ward. The video has since circulated widely, although its authenticity and the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident have not been independently verified.

Hospital sources reportedly claimed that the man was frequently seen near the emergency ward at night. Allegations have also surfaced that he directs patients to private nursing homes and operates a private ambulance, reports TOI.

However, these claims have not been independently confirmed, and it remains unclear whether authorities have formally identified the man seen in the footage.

The latest incident comes days after a separate complaint involving missing jewellery from a deceased woman's body at the same hospital. Her family allegedly accused a hospital sanitation worker of removing a silver anklet after her death.

The woman had reportedly been referred to Siwan Sadar Hospital from Maharajganj Sub-Divisional Hospital after suffering a snakebite. She died while being brought to the hospital. In connection with the missing anklet, the sanitation worker was reportedly identified through CCTV footage and handed over to the police.

Responding to the latest allegation, the hospital superintendent said he was unaware of the incident. He stated that the CCTV footage would be examined and that the police would be contacted if the person involved was identified.

The two incidents have raised concerns about the monitoring of hospital premises and the security of belongings on deceased patients. Further verification and investigation are needed to establish the facts surrounding the latest allegation.
