Udupi District Hospital inauguration date likely to be finalised after talks with Karnataka Health Minister
Udupi: The inauguration date of the new district hospital in Udupi will be decided after discussions with the Karnataka Health Minister and senior officials at a meeting scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on November 3, District In-charge Minister Rizwan Arshad said.
According to the news reports, Arshad said he had sought an appointment with the Health Minister and was also arranging a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, senior district officials and elected representatives to discuss issues concerning the hospital.
"I will inspect the hospital and hold detailed discussions with the health minister and officials of the Health Department. A collective decision will be taken after reviewing the situation. I will announce the inauguration date as soon as possible after the meeting," he said, reports Deccan Herald.
Meanwhile, responding to questions about the non-conduct of the Udupi district-level Rajyotsava Awards, which have been presented for nearly 25 years, the minister said the government was examining the issue to establish a uniform policy across Karnataka.
He pointed out that the practice differed from district to district, with some districts conducting the awards while others did not.
The government will consult the Kannada and Culture Department to develop a common system with clearly defined selection criteria. A committee will also be constituted to ensure that awards are presented purely on merit, without political or other external influence. The objective was to maintain the dignity and credibility of the awards.
The minister also expressed concern over the exclusion of a doctor from Udupi, whose name was reportedly replaced in the list of State Rajyotsava Award recipients. “I am not aware of what transpired. I learned about it only after arriving here. I will speak to minister Tangadagi about the matter,” he said, reports TOI.
