Jamui: A shocking incident has come to the fore from Jamui's Sadar Hospital, where instead of applying a urine drainage bag to a patient lying on the bed in a critical condition, the hospital workers put an empty bottle of Sprite cold drink.

The patient was brought to the Sadar Hospital by the Jhajha Railway Police in an unconscious state on Monday night. Following this, the doctor after conducting an examination instructed the health workers to apply a urinal bag and give an insulin injection along with a gas pipe for resuscitation.

But the extent of negligence was such that the hospital staff replaced the urinal bag with a Sprite (cold drink) bottle. Not only this, the medicines that were required to be given to the patient were also not available in the emergency stock at the hospital.

Sharing the video to the world, the user wrote "A used cold drink bottle was given to a patient instead of a urine bag! This is the condition of health infrastructure in Nitish's Bihar."

By tagging Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, the post alleged that the health system in Bihar is in bad shape. Along with this, it also raises questions about the working style of the health department.

The local people have expressed their anger against the administration as the hospital does not have proper medical facilities for the treatment of patients. It has emerged that the hospital lacks the required equipment and medicines.

Angered over the alleged negligence, the family members of the patient tried to contact the hospital manager seeking an explanation regarding the shocking incident. However, he did not pick up the phone.

When asked about the matter, the hospital manager informed that he was unaware of the shortage of urinal bags at the hospital and made arrangements as soon as he received the information. On Tuesday morning, the necessary supplies, including the urinal bag, were arranged at the hospital.

"The person in charge had suffered a leg fracture. Hence, I wasn't informed about the shortage of medicine," the manager informed India Today.
