World TB Day: Artemis Hospital organizes public awareness workshop

New Delhi: Ahead of 'World TB Day' on March 24, a significant initiative aimed at bolstering awareness about tuberculosis (TB) prevention and its underlying causes was organized at a Gurugram hospital on Friday.           

The event was conducted by the Deshit Foundation in partnership with Artemis Hospital Gurugram ahead of ‘World TB Day’, which is observed on March 24 every year.            

According to PTI, District TB Officer Dr Keshav said, “The importance of recognising symptoms such as persistent cough, fever, night sweats, and weight loss is a crucial step to prevent tuberculosis.” He emphasised the availability of free diagnostic and treatment services at health centres.

Dr Arun Chaudhary Kotaru from Artemis Hospital shed light on the statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO) indicating the scale of the TB epidemic.  

The workshop served as a platform for engaging discussions and dissemination of crucial information, fostering a collective resolve to address the challenges posed by TB effectively.                 

As 'World TB Day' approaches, initiatives such as these underscore the collective commitment to combatting TB and advancing public health outcomes, reinforcing the importance of collaborative endeavours in realizing a TB-free future.    

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that India has made ''significant progress'' in scaling up molecular diagnostics and is implementing the largest digital programme for TB surveillance and monitoring, an official said during a convention for health writers in the national capital. Experts discussed the latest innovations, challenges and collaborative solutions in the fight against TB at the National Health Writers and Influencers Convention held at AIIMS, Delhi.
