London: The GAPIO mid-year conference was held this weekend in London and this Global Meeting was inaugurated by Mr Vikram Dooraiswany, the High Commissioner of India to the UK. 

He urged advocacy for inclusive and affordable healthcare and applauded the contributions of India to meet global shortfalls of healthcare personnel.

The conference witnessed participation from eminent speakers and delegates from the USA, India, the UK, Africa and Europe. The lead participants from India included Dr Bipin Batra, Dr Arun Gupta, Dr A K Ganguly, Dr Anupam Sibal, Dr Shuchin Bajaj and Dr Girish Tyagi.

The theme of conference was Global Trends in Healthcare Sustainability. The thematic sessions comprised of Digital Revolution, AI in healthcare, Ageing and Longevity, Women’s health as Center Point for sustainability and Strengthening Primary Care globally.

Prof. Dr. Bipin Batra delivered the keynote talk on Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education and Dr Girish Tyagi spoke on Risk Assessment in Healthcare. Dr Anupam Sibal and Dr Shuchin Bajaj highlighted emergence of India as Vishwaguru in Healthcare and Entrepreneurship for doctors respectively.

Dr Ramesh Mehta, CBE; President, BAPIO stated that Indian doctors’ worldwide have contributed immensely for health and wellbeing. Dr Mehta was instrumental in establishing the GAPIO with support of Indian Diaspora of Physicians from USA and Australia. Dr Parag Singhal, CEO of BTA presented the model of skilling the Indian healthcare towards sustainability of NHS workforce.

Dr Bipin Batra, India delivered the keynote address and set the stage for introduction of Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education Curriculum in a building block manner with spiral model of learning while Dr Payal Mehta, GP from BAPIO London highlighted importance of yoga and holistic well-being in sustainable healthcare.

Dr Abhaya Chopada, Chair of BAPIO London Chapter thanked the delegates and speakers from USA and India for joining at the London academic event and celebrating the success of Indian Doctor’s worldwide.
