Rohtak: In a recent crackdown on illegal sex determination tests, a team from the Health Department in Rohtak raided an ultrasound centre in Meerut on Tuesday. During the raid, a doctor and three touts were arrested in connection.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a major crackdown on illegal sex determination practices in Delhi led to the arrest of a radiologist and a tout at Arogya Diagnostic and Dental Centre in Dwarka. The raid was conducted after a tip-off indicated the centre's involvement in illegal sex determination. According to Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata, the Health Department received specific information regarding illegal sex determination at the center, prompting the local authorities to take immediate action. Following the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, the Health Department conducted a raid.

The raid was carried out by a team led by Dr Vishvjeet Rathee, District Nodal Officer at the Global Diagnostic Centre in Meerut for the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC and PNDT) Act. During the operation, the team confiscated Rs 26,800 and sealed the clinic. An FIR has been registered against the radiologist and three accomplices involved in the illegal activities.

According to Amarujala, the individuals present during the raid were Dr Vishwajeet Rathi, PNDNT Nodal Officer, SMO Sanjeev Malik, ASMO Vishal Chaudhary, Dr Vikas, Health Officer Mohit Gill, Sanjeet Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Sushil Kumar from the health department, and the police team.

Speaking to the Tribune, Dr. Ramesh Chander, Civil Surgeon of Rohtak said, "The radiologist conducted the ultrasound examination of the decoy patient without filling the mandatory Form-F and informed her about the gender of the foetus, following which the doctor was nabbed."

The raid was carried out after a deal for a sex determination test was arranged through a dental surgeon. Dr Vishvjeet Rathee emphasized that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in such illegal rackets and networks.
