RG Kar Financial Irregularities Case: Court Reprimands CBI for Failing to Provide Documents
Kolkata: A special CBI court in Kolkata recently warned the counsel of the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, against making informal accusatory statements against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) during court proceedings. The court reprimanded the CBI for delays in submitting all relevant documents related to the case.
During the hearing on Monday, a courtroom clash unfolded after Ghosh's counsel accused the Central Bureau of Investigation of not providing all necessary documents related to the chargesheet in alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital during Ghosh's tenure.
His counsel, Joseph Rauf, alleged that the investigating agency had withheld crucial records. However, CBI dismissed the allegations with its counsel alleging that only Ghosh’s defence team had raised objections and no one else had complained.

In a submission before the trial court, Ghosh’s counsel Joseph Rauf said, “The CBI is always misguiding and misrepresenting the court. They have to give all the documents and statements of the witnesses. They haven’t done that. Documents that were filed here on the first day were 70%. But the next day, the CBI said all the documents had been given.”
