Uttarakhand Govt to recruit 339 Assistant Professors in Government Medical Colleges

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board (UMSSB) have begun a drive to recruit assistant professors in the government medical colleges of the State.
The board would start the interview process after the screening process on August 16 to recruit 339 assistant professors in various disciplines. The chairman of the UKSSB, Dr. D S Rawat told the Daily Pioneer that the board has made all the preparations for conducting the interviews of the candidates.
He added that the interview process would begin soon on August 16 and end on August 31, further observing that more than 800 candidates had applied for these posts. However, many applications were rejected after their eligibility criteria were checked.
In March, the board released the recruitment advertisements for 343 posts of Assistant Professors in three government medical colleges of the state out of which 80 are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), four for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 47 for Other Backward Caste (OBC) and 29 for economically backward castes.
The salary paid to the selected candidates who would be deployed in the vacant posts in the government medical colleges of the state is around Rs 67,700 to Rs 2,08,700, reports the Pioneer. There are four government medical colleges in Uttarakhand, the Government Doon Medical College, Medical College Haldwani, Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Medical College Srinagar, and Almora medical colleges. All of them are going through a shortage of faculty.
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC), there is a 30 percent shortage of faculty in Srinagar and Almora medical colleges.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS Raebareli) had invited offline applications for the post of Senior Resident under the Govt. of India Residency Scheme for the various departments on a contract basis.
