Mumbai: In a major step toward tightening pharmaceutical quality control, the Maharashtra government has sanctioned Rs 9.59 crore for the purchase of eight devices designed to detect counterfeit drugs and strengthen checking of fake and substandard medicines across public hospitals.
One device each will be installed in the Thane, Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Akola, Latur and Nagpur divisions, significantly enhancing quick testing capabilities for drug quality and chemical composition of medicines supplied to government health facilities.
