NPPA releases revised MRP for Oxygen Concentrators, Details
New Delhi: Through a recent office memorandum, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has released the revised maximum retail price (MRP) of Oxygen Concentrators, based on the price-related information received from the manufacturers and importers of Oxygen Concentrators.
The notified revised MRPs shall be effective from 9th June 2021 and remain in force till 30th November 2021 or further Orders. In addition, the notification also said that the MRPs of the Oxygen Concentrators shall be monitored as per the provisions of Para 20 of the DPCO, 2013.
It further stated, "State Drug Controller (SDC) of all State & UT Governments shall monitor the availability of Oxygen Concentrators at the notified prices. Any instances of hoarding, black-marketing and overpricing shall be viewed seriously and appropriate action may be initiated by the SDC concerned under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 under intimation to this Office. "
This comes in response to an order issued by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), dated 3 June 2021, capping the trade margins of Oxygen Concentrators. The Medical Dialogues team had reported earlier that the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) had capped the trade margin of Oxygen Concentrators up to 70 per cent at the first point of sale and directed the manufacturers to submit the revised Maximum Retail Price (MRP) by June 7, 2021.
By invoking Paragraph 19 of DPCO, 2013, the Government had put a cap on the trade margin of Oxygen Concentrator at the first point of sale of the product (hereinafter referred to as Price to Distributor) and had directed manufacturers to fix the Maximum Retail Price of the non-scheduled Drug Oxygen Concentrators, as per the formula given, Maximum Retail Price = Price to Distributor (PTD) + (PTD x TM) + Applicable GST, Where TM = Trade Margin not exceeding 70%.
Further, NPPA vides OM dated 4th June 2021 had directed manufacturers/importers of Oxygen Concentrators to submit revised MRPs of their products, in pursuance to the aforesaid notification, in the prescribed format, by 7th June 2021.
Accordingly, based on the price-related information received from the manufacturers/importers of Oxygen Concentrators in pursuance to the aforesaid Notification, the revised MRPs are informed as under:
a) The MRP of all the brands & Specification reported as on 08.06.2021 is enclosed as Annexure -l( a).
b) Further, MRP of the Brands & Specification which have reported downward price revision is enclosed as Annexure -l( b).
