Siemens sells 2 percent stake in Siemens Healthineers, raises around USD 1.5 billion

Siemens, a German engineering giant has successfully raised approximately 1.45 billion euros ($1.5 billion) by selling a stake in its healthcare subsidiary, Siemens Healthineers. The proceeds from the sale are expected to contribute to Siemens’ acquisition of U.S.-based software firm Altair Engineering.
The company said late on Wednesday that it had sold a 2% stake, or 26.5 million ordinary shares, through a private placement. As a result, Siemens' stake in Healthineers has decreased from 75% to 73%.
