Bhubaneswar: In a significant scientific development, researchers at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela have patented a novel formulation for the treatment of skin cancer, developed from an unusual yet powerful combination of pumpkin petal extracts and silk proteins.
As per a recent media report in The Times of India, the formulation harnesses the natural antioxidant and anti-cancer properties of pumpkin petals, while silk proteins provide exceptional biocompatibility and structural strength. To enhance effectiveness, the team has incorporated a nanofiber-based delivery system, allowing precise targeting of cancerous cells and minimizing toxic side effects often associated with conventional treatments.
