Bengaluru: AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited has reported a 30% year-on-year growth in total revenue from operations to Rs 6,828 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, supported by continued momentum across its core therapy areas of Oncology, Biopharmaceuticals and Rare Disease.

The company said the quarter reflected disciplined execution, key regulatory milestones and strategic partnerships aimed at expanding access to innovative healthcare solutions in India.

For the quarter, the company reported profit before exceptional item and tax of ₹510 million, while profit after exceptional item and tax stood at ₹507 million. The company clarified in its regulatory filing that the phrase “Profit after exceptional item and tax” appearing in the financial performance summary should be read as “Profit after exceptional item and before tax,” that is, profit before tax.

The Oncology segment generated ₹4,649 million, registering 26% growth compared with Q1 FY2025-26. Biopharmaceuticals, covering CVRM, R&I and V&I, recorded revenue of ₹1,619 million, reflecting 36% growth, while the Rare Diseases segment reported ₹144 million, representing 35-fold growth over the corresponding period.

Bhavana Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer and Director of AstraZeneca Pharma India, said the company delivered 30% growth in the first quarter, taking revenue to ₹6,828 million. She noted that the performance builds on the company's track record of consistent double-digit growth over the past five years, while its focus remains on making strategic investments that support sustainable long-term value creation.

Praveen Rao Akkinepally, Country President and Managing Director, AstraZeneca Pharma India Ltd., said the company's purpose is to push the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines and that this continues to shape its efforts to address unmet patient needs in India. He said the growth and momentum recorded during the quarter reflected the strength of the company's portfolio and its focus on expanding access to serve more patients across the country.

During the quarter, AstraZeneca Pharma India strengthened its portfolio through important regulatory approvals, expanded scientific engagement through targeted capability-building initiatives and advanced strategic partnerships supporting earlier diagnosis and broader access. The company said these developments reflect its continued focus on addressing unmet medical needs, strengthening its presence across priority therapy areas and creating long-term value through science, innovation and sustainable growth.

Among the key regulatory milestones, acalabrutinib received approval in combination with venetoclax, with or without obinutuzumab, for the treatment of patients with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)/small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL). As part of its strategic initiatives, AstraZeneca Pharma India signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Telangana to introduce AI-enabled lung cancer screening across public healthcare facilities in the state. Under the collaboration, AstraZeneca will facilitate the deployment of Qure.ai's AI-powered chest X-ray solution to support clinicians in identifying high-risk pulmonary nodules and other lung conditions, enabling earlier triage and follow-up. The initiative is expected to be rolled out across 20 public health facilities covering urban and rural settings and will include training and upskilling of healthcare professionals to support effective and sustainable adoption.

The company also launched K+ Connect, a pan-India multidisciplinary initiative focused on advancing the management of hyperkalaemia among patients living with heart failure and chronic kidney disease. The initiative brings together clinicians from different specialties to encourage a more coordinated approach to risk identification, monitoring and management of hyperkalaemia.

Another initiative launched during the quarter was India Coronary Conquest (ICC) 2026, in collaboration with STEMI India. Described as a clinician-led national complex PCI challenge, the programme is designed to strengthen evidence-based learning and peer exchange among interventional cardiologists. It aims to support capability building in advanced cardiovascular care through case-based learning and scientific collaboration.
