Bengaluru Man Spends Rs 48 Lakh on Ayurvedic Sexual-Health Drugs, Suffers Kidney Damage, Probe Underway

According to the complaint, the techie had first approached a multi-specialty hospital in Kengeri but later shifted course after spotting a roadside tent run by the accused healer, identified as Vijay Guruji, who advertised “instant solutions” for sexual issues. He allegedly prescribed overpriced products such as “Devaraj Booti” at ₹1.6 lakh per gram, “Bhavana Booti Taila” at ₹76,000 per gram for 15 g, and “Devaraj Rasabooti” at ₹2.6 lakh per gram for 4 g.

The guruji insisted on cash-only payments and warned that discontinuing treatment would worsen the patient’s condition.

Over the next few months, the victim drained his savings, borrowed ₹17 lakh from relatives, took a ₹20 lakh bank loan, and even borrowed ₹10 lakh from a friend to continue the regimen. Yet his health deteriorated; medical tests later showed signs of kidney damage, which he claims is linked to the herbal products. When he confronted the healer, he was allegedly threatened and told to continue the costly medicines.

A case has now been registered at Jnanabharathi Police Station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating, breach of trust and administering harmful substances. Police have begun tracing the accused and his associates, reports Moneycontrol.
