New Delhi: The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has appointed Dr Gouri Shankar, Deputy Drugs Controller (India) [DDC(I0], as the new Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) for handling technical matters related to the Right to Information (RTI) Cell at CDSCO Headquarters in New Delhi.

The appointment was announced through an Office Memorandum issued on May 12, 2026 by the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The order has been issued in supersession of earlier directions concerning the appointment of CPIOs under the RTI Act, 2005.

According to the memorandum, Dr. Gouri Shankar has been appointed in place of Mr. Sunil Kulshrestha, DDC(I) and former CPIO, who has now been transferred to the PG & RTI Division of CDSCO Headquarters.

The order stated that the “competent authority, in terms of Para 5 under Chapter II of RTI Act, 2005, is pleased to appoint Dr. Gouri Shankar DDC(I) as CPIO” to deal with technical RTI matters at the CDSCO headquarters.

The memorandum was issued by Pawan Kumar, Deputy Director Administration (Drugs), and copies were circulated to senior CDSCO officials, the RTI Cell, DGHS officials, and the IT Cell for uploading the order on the official CDSCO website.
