CORONA Remedies Commissions EU-GMP Approved Hormone Manufacturing Facility in Ahmedabad
New Delhi: CORONA Remedies Limited has inaugurated and commercialised its dedicated European Union Good Manufacturing Practice (EU-GMP)-approved hormone manufacturing facility at Bhayla, Ahmedabad, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities in women's healthcare and hormone therapies.
The new facility was inaugurated by the company's Chairman, Dr K. L. Mehta, along with long-serving women employees, symbolising CORONA Remedies' continued focus on women's healthcare and the contribution of women to the organisation's growth.
The company said the commissioning of the facility marks a significant milestone in its strategy to build globally benchmarked pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities while addressing the growing demand for specialised hormone therapies.
According to CORONA Remedies, the facility has been established to cater to the increasing global demand for treatments related to hormonal disorders, fertility care, menopause management and hormone replacement therapies.
The company stated that hormonal medicines require highly specialised manufacturing due to their potency, sensitive formulations and stringent contamination control requirements. The new facility has therefore been designed with dedicated production areas, advanced containment systems and precision environmental controls to meet international quality standards.
Spread across 1 lakh sq. ft., the integrated manufacturing unit supports multiple dosage forms, including tablets, soft gel capsules, ointments and gels. It has an annual production capacity of 194 million tablets and capsules and 1.5 million ointments and gels.
CORONA Remedies said the commissioning of the plant is expected to increase its in-house hormone manufacturing capacity by nearly 20%.
The company added that the facility incorporates advanced manufacturing technologies, including fully integrated closed-loop manufacturing systems supported by 21 CFR-compliant equipment and Quality by Design (QbD) principles, advanced gelatin processing systems and real-time online process monitoring to improve batch consistency and product quality.
Commenting on the development, Nirav K. Mehta, Founder, Managing Director & CEO, CORONA Remedies Limited, said, "Women's healthcare continues to be one of the fastest evolving areas of modern medicine. At CORONA, we believe scientific innovation must be complemented by world-class manufacturing capabilities. This dedicated hormone facility represents our commitment to delivering globally benchmarked quality, strengthening India's pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem and ensuring women have access to safe, reliable and high-quality hormone therapies."
According to the company, the facility will strengthen its ability to serve both domestic and international markets while supporting its long-term strategy of expanding science-driven manufacturing capabilities in women's healthcare.
