GPSC Invites Applications for Senior Drug Inspector Posts in Gujarat Health Department

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has invited applications for the post of Senior Drug Inspector under the Gujarat Drugs Service, Class-II, in the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official GPSC portal within the prescribed application period.

As per Advertisement No. 33/2026-27, a total of eight vacancies have been announced for the post. The vacancies are distributed among various categories, including General, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Additionally, one post has been reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

The recruitment is being conducted by the Gujarat Public Service Commission, the constitutional body responsible for selecting qualified candidates for administrative, technical, and professional positions under the Government of Gujarat. The selected candidates will be appointed in the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Candidates applying for the post must possess a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharm D, or a degree in Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a recognized university. Applicants are also required to have at least five years of experience in drug enforcement or pharmaceutical development. Basic knowledge of computer applications and proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi are mandatory requirements for the post.

The upper age limit has been fixed at 40 years as on the last date of application. However, age relaxation will be available to candidates belonging to reserved categories, women candidates, and other eligible categories as per prevailing government rules.

Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,42,400 under Level-8 of the Seventh Pay Commission, offering a significant career opportunity in the field of pharmaceutical regulation and public health administration.

According to the notification, the online application process began on June 5, 2026, and will remain open until June 19, 2026. The Preliminary Test (General Studies) is scheduled for July 26, 2026, while the examination for the concerned subject is expected to be conducted on October 4, 2026.

Candidates belonging to the General category are required to pay an application fee of Rs 100 plus applicable charges. However, candidates from reserved categories, ex-servicemen, and persons with disabilities are exempted from paying the application fee.

According to the recruitment details reported by BioTecNika, the number of vacancies may be revised and the recruitment process may be modified or cancelled at any stage depending on administrative requirements.
