Haridwar: Raid at Golden Life Sciences Company, 3 held
Haridwar: In an attempt to eradicate the attempts of the firms manufacturing pharma products without a valid licence, drug authorities conducted a raid at the premises of Golden Life Sciences Company situated in the SIDCUL area here.
Reports indicate that the company had been engaged in the manufacture of drugs without a licence for the past year. Upon reaching, the gate of the facility was locked from the outside, prompting the raiding team to scale the wall to gain access.
In the aftermath of the raid, a substantial amount of drugs, along with raw materials, was confiscated from the factory. The three individuals arrested were identified as Ram Kumar, a resident of Haridwar, Rahul Kumar from Roorkee, and Rajesh Kumar, who hails from Bihar. They were subsequently booked under sections 17 and 18 of the Drug Act, 1940 at the SIDCUL police station.
Anita Bharti, a drug inspector based in Haridwar, provided insight into the company's history, stating that it initially obtained a licence in 2019. However, following the failure of its samples in tests the Company's licence was cancelled in 2022. Despite this setback, the company allegedly continued to secretly manufacturing antibiotics, painkillers, and other life-saving drugs.
Drug inspector Bharti told TOI, "The company's licence was cancelled in 2022 as the drugs were found to be substandard and the manufacturer was not following guidelines."
