Haryana CGST Arrests Pharma Trader Over Rs 21 Cr Tax Evasion

Officials stated the arrest was made under Section 132 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, which deals with offences related to tax evasion. Documents linked to income and business transactions were seized, and preliminary scrutiny suggested coordinated efforts to suppress actual sales figures.

Based on the findings so far, the department estimates that sales of around ₹118.49 crore were made without proper tax compliance, resulting in a GST liability of approximately ₹21.30 crore. Following his arrest, Garg was produced before a local court in Sonipat, which remanded him to judicial custody.

According to a recent media report in the Times of India, officials added that the investigation is continuing, with authorities examining the seized records to identify other possible beneficiaries or accomplices, and further action will be taken based on the outcome of the probe.
