The Railway Board completed the vacancy assessment through Zonal Railways and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) using the HRMS Indent Management Module. Based on the assessment, the Board approved the recruitment matrix for 2026. Of the total 600 paramedical vacancies, 120 posts have been allocated for Pharmacist (Entry Grade) under Pay Level 5 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
Candidates applying for the pharmacist post must fulfil the revised educational qualifications prescribed by the Railway Board. Applicants should possess either a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from a recognised institution. The revised eligibility criteria no longer include the Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), making B.Pharm and Pharm.D the only accepted qualifications for the post.
The selection process is expected to include a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination. The CBT is likely to be conducted for 90 minutes and comprise 100 objective-type questions. The examination is expected to include 70 questions from pharmacy subjects, while General Awareness, General Arithmetic, Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Science will carry 10 questions each.
The recruitment is expected to provide a significant opportunity for pharmacy graduates seeking government employment in the Indian Railways' healthcare services. The official notification will include details regarding the online application process, examination schedule, age limit, reservation policy, examination centres and zone-wise vacancy breakup.
