NIPER, Zeon Lifesciences ink pact to establish academic interaction, research advancement

New Delhi: Zeon Lifesciences, an Indian manufacturer of nutraceuticals and herbal products has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on their collaborative joint venture with the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) S.A.S. Nagar Mohali with an intent to focus on academic interaction and research advancement in the specified fields, as well as to share facilities and expertise.

Through the proposed partnership under this MoU, NIPER & Zeon will conduct collaborative research activities at NIPER Mohali encompassing pharmaceutical technology, synthesis, analytical techniques, pharmacotherapeutics, and standardization of herbal actives and protocols adopted to comply with the regulatory milieu of the region/country concerned. NIPER Mohali has CIL (Central instrument Laboratories), which is equipped with highly sophisticated equipment & definitely will assist in innovative outcomes of this joint research program.

Expressing his views on this collaboration, Suresh Garg, MD and Founder, Zeon Lifesciences, stated, "To be able to contribute to one's alma mater always feels great, and when the occasion is such a noble one, the excitement gets multiplied. The objective of this collaboration is to carry out R&D projects to examine the product formulation and its development in the fields of Nutraceuticals, Ayurveda, and Phytopharmaceuticals. Other than that, Zeon Lifesciences Ltd. and NIPER will be conducting joint clinical trials as per Ayush or DCGI guidelines that are applicable for selected formulations. Under this collaborative venture, both entities will conduct studies to compare the prevailing regulations, approaches, and challenges while registration of drug products.

Zeon has collaborated with multiple reputed institutions in past from all across India to conduct quality research, pre-clinical & clinical study on various products, including NII, New Delhi, CCMB Hyderabad, SRM University, Chennai, Adesh University, Punjab, BITS Pilani, DPSRU, and IIIM, CSIR, Jammu. With an interest expressed in collaboration for the development of novel formulations and drug discovery, Zeon's recent collaboration with NIPER will help both entities to attain common goals for socio-economic benefits.
