NPPA Extends Ceiling Prices Of Knee Implants Till September 2025
New Delhi: Through a recent notification, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India has extended the ceiling price of orthopaedic knee implants for another year up to 15th September 2025, unless revised earlier by another notification.
This came in line with the decision of the 126th authority meeting dated September 9, 2024, where the ceiling price fixation of the orthopedic knee implant systems was discussed. Ceiling Price refers to a price fixed by the Government for Scheduled Formulations in accordance with the provisions of the drugs (prices control) order, 2013. The ceiling price is the maximum price to the retailer (excluding taxes, if any) for the given product.
Earlier, the Medical Dialogues Team had reported that the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority had extended the ceiling prices of knee implants until 15th September 2024
Now, in line with the above, the notice stated that the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India vide S.O. 2668(E) dated 16th August, 2017, S.O. 3987(E) dated 13th August 2018, S.O. 2934 (E) dated 13th August 2019, S.O. 2768(E) dated 14th August 2020, S.O. 3147 (E) dated 15th September 2020, S.O. 3670(E) dated 10th September 2021, S.O. 4343(E) dated 15th September 2022 and S.O. 4078(E) dated 15th September 2023 issued notifications under Para 19 of the DPCO, 2013 regarding fixation/revision of ceiling prices of the Orthopaedic Knee Implants for Knee Replacement Systems.
In continuation to the above notifications, the notice declared,
"The ceiling prices of the Orthopaedic Knee Implant for Knee Replacement System, as applicable, up to 15th September 2024 are further extended up to 15th September 2025 unless revised earlier by another notification."
The notice further added that the worked-out ceiling prices to be continued with effect from 16.09.2024 are as under:
