NPPA Slaps GSK Pharma with Rs 3.54 Crore Demand Over Alleged Drug Overcharging

New Delhi: GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited (GSK Pharma) has informed the stock exchanges that it has received a demand notice from the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) amounting to Rs 3,54,12,025, alleging overcharging in the sale of scheduled formulations at prices higher than those fixed or notified by the Government and the NPPA during the relevant period.

The company made the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, through a filing submitted to the BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE).

According to the filing, the NPPA issued the demand notice dated June 24, 2026, and GSK Pharma received the communication on the same day.The company stated that the total demand of Rs 3,54,12,025 comprises Rs 1,22,91,163 towards the alleged overcharging amount and Rs 2,31,20,862 towards interest.

As per the disclosure, the alleged contravention relates to the sale of scheduled formulations at prices higher than those fixed or notified by the Government and the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority during the relevant period.

GSK Pharma informed the exchanges that it does not expect any impact on its financial operations as a result of the demand notice.The company also stated that it will file an appeal against the demand order issued by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority.

According to the regulatory filing submitted by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited to the BSE and NSE, the company has received an NPPA demand notice for alleged overcharging of scheduled formulations amounting to Rs 3.54 crore, comprising the principal amount and interest, and intends to challenge the order through the appellate process while maintaining that there will be no impact on its financial operations.
