Raid at illegal medical shop, medicines worth Rs 3.20 lakh seized

Hyderabad: Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) officials have raided a medical shop at IS Sadan, Santosh Nagar, in the city, which is running illegally without a drug licence, and seized huge stocks of medicines worth Rs. 3.20 lakhs.
According to credible information regarding the illegal sale of medicines, the officials raided a shop located at Central Excise Colony, IS Sadan, on Thursday and seized 111 varieties of medicines, DCA Director General VB Kamalasan Reddy said in a release here on Friday.
Mohammed Iltefath Ahmed is running a medical shop on the premises illegally without a drug licence.
During the raid, the officials detected the unauthorised stocking of a huge quantity of medicines for sale.
111 varieties of medicines, including habit-forming drugs, antibiotics, insulin injections, anti-viral drugs, anti-hypertensive drugs, painkillers, anti-ulcer drugs, cough syrups, and antacids, are found stocked for sale at the premises.
DCA officials seized the stock, totaling Rs. 3.20 lakhs, during the raid.
The officials lifted the samples for analysis, and further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders, the release said.
Ms. D. Saritha, Assistant Director, Secunderabad; G. Anil, Drugs Inspector, Malakpet; B. Govind Singh, Drugs Inspector, Secunderabad; B. Lakshminarayana, Drugs Inspector, Uppal; and Ms. A. Rashmi, Drugs Inspector, Amberpet, are among the officers who carried out the raid.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that officials from the DCA, Telangana, had conducted a raid on the premises of a medical distributor in Kapra, uncovering a substantial stock of Insulin injections valued at Rs. 5 lakh.
