Rajasthan Orders Recall of Substandard Drugs Including Ofloxacin, Voglibose After Quality Failures

The crackdown followed routine sampling and laboratory analysis carried out by the department, which identified five medicines and one batch of surgical gloves as not complying with quality norms. Officials ordered the immediate recall of all affected products from sale and distribution across the state to prevent potential harm to patients and healthcare workers.

Among the substandard drugs were Vincet-L, an anti-allergy medicine, and Ofwin-200 (Ofloxacin 200 mg), an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. Both products were manufactured by YL Pharma Limited, Solan, Himachal Pradesh. The department noted that these medicines are commonly prescribed, raising concerns over their widespread use.

A diabetes drug, Dulcovog-0.3 mg (Voglibose), manufactured by Lifecare Neuro Products Limited, Dharampur, Himachal Pradesh, was also found to be substandard. In addition, Telpin-A, a medicine used for managing blood pressure and manufactured by Muskon Life Science Private Limited, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, failed quality checks.

The list further included Cefixime oral suspension, a commonly prescribed paediatric antibiotic, manufactured by Agron Remedies Private Limited Kashipur, Uttarakhand, which did not meet the required standards. Beyond medicines, a batch of surgical gloves manufactured by Swear Healthcare Private Limited in Dholpur, Rajasthan, was also declared substandard.

Officials stated that strict action is being initiated against the concerned companies under applicable drug laws, and enforcement teams have been directed to ensure complete withdrawal of the identified batches from the market.

According to a recent media report in the India Today, the action forms part of intensified surveillance by the Rajasthan Drug Control Department to ensure that only quality-compliant medicines and medical products reach patients.

The department reiterated that patient safety remains a top priority and warned manufacturers and distributors against compromising drug quality, stating that such violations will attract stringent penalties.
