Amroha: Stirring outrage across Amroha, a shocking video surfaced showing a pharmacist allegedly assaulting a computer operator at the district post-mortem house on Sunday morning. The victim accused the pharmacist of demanding money from the relatives of a deceased person and attacking him when he objected to the alleged extortion.

The 22-second clip, which went viral on social media, captured the heated altercation that reportedly took place around 11 a.m. at the mortuary on Zoya Road.

As per reports, a team from Gajraula had brought a body from a nearby block for autopsy when the confrontation unfolded. The computer operator, posted at the facility through an official order from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), said he had no prior connection with the deceased’s relatives. In the viral video, he can be seen covering his face while alleging that the pharmacist regularly demanded bribes from grieving families and turned violent when challenged.

Following the incident, the operator filed a written complaint at the Amroha Dehat Police Station, demanding strict action against the pharmacist. Despite the public outrage, no immediate action has been reported against the accused or the mortuary administration.

Reacting to the controversy, Chief Medical Officer Dr Satyapal Singh stated that he was unaware of the incident but assured that a departmental probe would be initiated upon receiving the complaint. He added that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken after verification of the allegations.

According to a recent media report in Dainik Bhaskar, the incident has raised serious concerns about corruption and misconduct within government mortuary services. Locals and activists have urged authorities to ensure accountability and protect staff and bereaved families from harassment. Police officials said they are examining the viral video and reviewing statements to ascertain the sequence of events.
