A new book titled “Spectrum of Hypertension: Spotlight on Metoprolol” was launched during the 77th Annual Conference of the Cardiology Society of India (CSI). The event was graced by eminent cardiologists, including Dr. Dhiman Kahali – President-Elect, CSI, Dr. P.C. Rath – Immediate Past President, CSI, and Dr. Rishi Shetty – EC Member, CSI.
Building on Ajanta Pharma’s earlier publication “Portraits of Hypertension,” the new edition delves deeper into the evolving clinical journey of Metoprolol and its pivotal role in managing different types of hypertension.
Dr. Dhiman Kahali highlighted hypertension as a silent killer that demands early detection and appropriate therapy to prevent serious complications like heart attack and kidney failure. Dr. P.C. Rath stressed the importance of blood pressure control and early intervention to avert adverse cardiovascular events. Adding a modern touch, Dr. Rishi Shetty described beta-blockers, statins, and aspirin as the “GOAT” — the Greatest of All Time — in cardiovascular medicine.
Prominent experts including Dr. A.K. Pancholia, Dr. Santosh Kumar Aggarwal, and Dr. Saumitra Ray discussed emerging evidence and pharmacodynamic insights reinforcing Metoprolol’s efficacy and safety in Indian patients.
