NTPC to open Jan Aushadhi Kendras at 10 plants

New Delhi: State-run power giant NTPC has inked a pact with the Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI) for setting up Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs) at its project locations.


This will be part of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna (PMBJP), which was launched by the central government for providing quality medicines at affordable prices for all in the country.


The project is to be implemented through sale of generic medicines and allied medical products through exclusive retail outlets by style and under name Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra spread all over the country.

Now as per the agreement, NTPC has expressed its willingness and desire to associate with BPPI to take this project through nominated agency/agencies who will be establishing, running and managing about 10 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras or more at its project locations.


These projects include Simhadri, Kahalgaon, Barh, Korba, Sipat, Badarpur, Vindhyachal, Mouda, Talcher (Kaniha), Ramagundam, Dadri NCPS, Rihand, Singrauli, Tanda, Unchahar.


NTPC will also endeavour to open as many as possible Jan Aushadhi Kendras at these 10 projects and other locations near its operating station in across India.


The term of the MoU shall be for a period of three years and is applicable for all the states. The agreement was inked on March 2, 2017.


Signing of this MoU is reiterates NTPC's commitment to take care of the society, especially the community in the neighbourhood of its business units by improving the quality of life of the people and promoting inclusive growth.


The focus areas of its CSR are health, sanitation, drinking water, education, capacity building, women empowerment, social infrastructure development, and support to differently-abled persons.


Two Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs) are already operational in NTPC's Korba and Koldam hospitals.
