24-year-old nurse hangs self at Erode private hospital

Perundurai: In an unfortunate incident, a 24-year-old nurse working with a private hospital at Perundurai in Erode district of Tamil Nadu allegedly died by suicide and was found hanging from the ceiling during the early hours of Sunday.  

The nurse was from Melapatty in Pudukottai district. She had been working with the hospital for two years and used to stay within the hospital premises.

The incident came to light at around 9 AM on Sunday when her colleagues went to check on her after she was found absent for a long time. There was no response despite repeated knocking, and she was found hanging from the ceiling when looked through the window. 

The hospital authorities immediately informed the police, who found the body and sent it to postmortem at a nearby government hospital. She was reportedly talking to someone on the phone before the incident took place, as per a media report in the Times of India.  

A case has been registered by the Veerappanchatram police and they have started their investigation.
